Places to go out in Downtown San Diego

Hello everyone! It's the end to an entertaining weekend, since I went to downtown San Diego for a friend's 25th birthday and tried some new places!
Here's my take on the Gaslamp district and going out in downtown:

Places I've been

FLUXX
Nice place, feels like you're in Vegas. The cover charge is expensive and the wait to get in is long, but the club is top notch

ONYX
Not quite as crazy at Fluxx but room to dance and good drinks :)

IVY
We went here last night- pretty fun because there are 3 to 4 floors. There's a lounge where you can sit down to enjoy your drink without paying for the chair, and then a dance floor with some great DJs below. A lot of trashed people in line trying to get in though :/

STINGAREE
Went here Friday night- great dancing and music, and excellent drinks!
I recommend some drinks (the names are weird)
-Sex on the Beach shot: Peach schnapps and juice, very yummy and sweet!
-Buttery Nipple shot: Caramel butter schnapps with i don't know what else but it tastes like a caramel treat.
-Tequila sunrise: strong, but tasty.

WHISKEY GIRL
Fun place, always busy! Strong drinks and great space to dance in, lots of guys on Thursdays though!

BARLEYMASH
This is more of a restaurant/bar but we went here for dinner last night and it was AMAZING. Great beer selection, as well as burgers and yummy flatbreads. they had an AMAZING bacon-smores DESSERT.

HARDROCK ROOFTOP LOUNGE (207)
Went here for my 22nd birthday a few years back! Had this amazing blue caracao or Hypnotic drink that was fun!

Places I want to go

NOBLE EXPERIMENT
I was told about this place this weekend, apparently it's secret and hidden, but an amazing little intimate space with great drinks!

WET WILLIES
This place looks so fun. They have a whole line up of alcoholic mixed drinks (pictured below) as well as food and jello shots!

VIN DE SYRAH
This place has gorgeous photos and looks Alice in Wonderland-esque. There's a hidden green door and amazing lounge chairs. Gotta try it out!

Well that's it, everyone! Happy bar hopping and stay safe :)

Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas

It's wedding season, which MEANS....picking the right outfit to wear as a guest! It can't be something you'd go clubbing in, but you can't look like you're at the Prom either, so...

Here's some ideas of dresses for the wedding guest:

On the cheaper side, a backless coral number from Forever 21
Something more girly, from Nordstrom's Presley Skye brand
For a more casual beach wedding- Nordstrom key hole dress from the junior's section
From Lulu's.com- the safari dress
From the high end designer Shoshanna, this is probably the most expensive dress on the list at 340
A Donna Morgan chiffon strapless dress from Nordstroms
An Eliza J dress from Nordstrom's
A maxi colorful dress from Soprano in the Nordstrom's junior section
Now maybe this is a No-no because it has white in it, but a gorgeous dress I found on Pinterest
A dress by the brand Aqua from Bloomingdale's
Ombre blue dress from Xscape at Nordstrom
And lastly, a feminine cowl-neck dress I found on Pinterest.

Happy clothes hunting! And don't forget to have fun :)

Best Spas in Southern California (with Vegas bonus)

Best Spas in SO CAL

Hey everyone! It's that time of year for spring cleaning and taking care of yourself. Whether that's working out and prepping for bikini season, getting a new tan, or treating yourself to a massage, here's a list of spas that are awesome. I will star the ones I have actually visited!

SAN DIEGO

Hotel Palomar (downtown San Diego)

Apparently they have the only Morrocan mud treatment room in San Diego. :) They also have amazing body scrubs and wraps from what I've heard. Pricey, but not nearly as expensive as Estancia or Grand del Mar. I would really love to go here! :) maybe a birthday present to myself?

Grand del Mar
PRICIEST other than Pelican Hill. Looks amazing though, the epitome of service.

Estancia La Jolla * (got a mani-pedi here! AMAZING)

Love this place, the service is great!!!! but the SPA itself is tough to find if you're walking around on the property. It is behind the pool, and tough to access without a key.

Hotel del Coronado

I love Coronado and I have a special place in my art for all things styled Victorian. This piece of history has an amazing spa, and I would have loved to try their Valentine's Day package including a couples' massage and smores on the beach but it was i think $400 X__X so expensive. Also, this is a high-traffic tourist area, so it might be a little busier than the secluded Grand del mar.

(She's wondering- who is this guy? haha)

Torrey Pines La Jolla * (got in for free to enjoy the sauna while my parents stayed here)

Beautiful regal looking spa, it was pretty empty when I was there. Very amazing service and top notch spa. Unfortunately, during my parents' stay their hotel room was next to a bridal party suite so that wasn't the best experience, but the spa was fantastic!

Spa L'Auberge Hotel in Del Mar

Right on the water in beautiful del mar, this looks like a great retreat and the restaurants within walking distance are amazing!

Massage Envy * (my favorite location is UTC on Gennessee, ask for Lindi, or La Jolla)

ORANGE COUNTY

Pelican Hill * (took my mom here for mother's day pedicure! IT WAS SO EXPENSIVE ;_; )

This is the TOP TOP spa I have EVER been to. My all time favorite, although it is also THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE EVER. This, in my opinion, is Newport Beach living and OC style in a nutshell. Best service, italian style spa, and sooo relaxing. I feel like it would be easy to run into celebrities here.

Monarch Beach St Regis in Dana Point

Recently went to the Hotel for a birthday dinner but haven't been in the spa, but I heard it's super nice.

California Hotel (near California Adventures, Disneyland in Anaheim)

Would love to go here for a treatment, seems like the best Disney has to offer! The Mandara spa also has many different prime locations around the world- including Vegas, Wailea Maui, the middle east, and the south pacific!

Glen Ivy (either Brea or Corona location)
* Went to the Corona location with an awesome gift card and had the best day ever! Matt went with me and even though it was very girly, even he enjoyed it!
*Went to the Brea location for a mani-pedi with mom and love it!

The corona location is the best girls' day trip ever. They have an outdoor lounge pool, outdoor mineral baths and hot tubs, massage areas, CLUB MUD with mud treatments DIY, and an underground moisturizing grotto, where they put an aloe vera-based lotion all over you and you can lounge around and relax. They also have great lunch salad options!

VEGAS

Ceasar's QUA Spa * You can get in and enjoy the whirlpools and steam rooms for 40 bucks/day. LOVE the free tea and hot stone chairs.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SPA other than MASSAGE ENVY ON THE WHOLE LIST, because it has the most stuff to do. I have definitely been in here for 5 hours at a time before, because they have a great lounge area, and it's easy to use the lockers and shower and it's a great place to hang out if you checked out of your hotel room and are waiting for your flight :) They also have bathing suit dryers, which is a MUST.

THEY HAVE AN ICE ROOM OH YEEEAH

Bellagio * Took Matt here for his birthday. BEST MASSAGE EVER.

Wonderful place. very quiet and empty when I was here.

Aria- Really want to go here.

Apparently they have an infused-salt room, and a balcony pool :)

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed that post. I sure did :) Now I really want to go relax somewhere with spa music. Who doesn't enjoy being pampered?!

Thoughts about Life: Tips on How to Survive College

Hello,

So I was thinking how I survived the years 2007 to 2011, mainly because I'm going back to school in the summer for two years and trying to figure out how to get through that.

Here are my ideas of how to survive college:

1- go to class and office hours to get a better grade (if the prof. knows who you are, he will give you the benefit of the doubt)

2- know where the food stops are that are fast (before class)
santa barbara- my go to is Blenders for a smoothie, Freebirds for nachos, natural cafe for awesome vegan, or silvergreens for a healthier sandwich
san diego- my go to is Croutons for a salad, chipotle for nachos or burritos, jamba and robeks for smoothies, in n out for my burger of choice

3- know how to get to the grocery store without your car and without relying on anyone else

4- learn how to fall asleep no matter what's going on (this is actually something i mastered in hs, but in the dorms you either need earplugs or a sound machine. my roommate was originally opposed to the sound machine, but once i turned it on, we realized we both slept better since it blocked out the sound next door)

5- maintain a regular workout schedule (this is great to relieve stress during finals, and helps prevent the freshman 15)

6-don't sweat the small stuff (in college, graduating and going to class and living it up on the weekends, but then you get into the real world and realize there aren't any campus clubs and grades and the first job you get you probably won't have the rest of your life)

7-don't take unnecessary risks (this includes running alone at night or getting too drunk at a party or not using protections: mistakes like these can have an influence on you for the rest of your life, not just something you can forget about on monday)

8-treat yourself every once in a while or after finals (i know it's tough with lack of finances or busy schedules, but everyone deserves a nice dinner or a massage to forget about their troubles for a little while)

Please let me know if you can think of any other great tips! :)

Apartment/ House Remodel Decor

Hello everyone!

I'm hopefully moving into a new place at the end of summer and I can't wait!

Here are some dream items (and some items I will be buying) that I would love to have. :)

Painting/Art

I love the art at bed bath and beyond because it is both pretty and affordable.

Rugs

I love pottery barn because their rugs are cute (the ones from pbteen.com and pbkids.com) and they come in different sizes. They are super good quality too!

(I actually just bought this one...love it!)

Other awesome ideas

If I could be fancy,  I would buy a sauna! ooooh :)

An awesome way to decorate the stairway and use cool wall decals

I know this lady looks creepy because nobody sleeps with their eyes open while smiling, but the pillow I just bought and love is the Cloud pillow by Tempurpedic :D amazing!

Pier 1 has this beautiful love seat that would look great in any bedroom! A perfect cozy reading corner.

This isn't just any fork! This is a giant fork you can hang on the wall!

This is a great understated decor piece from Pier 1. I hope it doesn't tick too loudly!

Here's a great way to store your shoes by the door and hang keys for easy pick up on your way in and out of the house.

This storage set is from IKEA and i love how much space it has!

This is the desk I will hopefully be getting from IKEA! It's open and simple, but goes great with the lighter color furniture in my apartment.

Thank you so much for reading and happy redecorating~
